Ornithological information Las especies que destacan en esta IBA son Aulacorhynchus huallagae y Poospiza alticola.

Site description Esta IBA se encuentra ubicada en la provincia de Pataz en el departamento de La Libertad y en la provincia de Mariscal Cáceres, en el departamento de San Martin. Incluye a las 274.520 ha del Parque Nacional Río Abiseo. En el sector occidental del Parque se encuentran los restos arqueológicos del Gran Pajatén. En esta IBA existen páramo, pajonal de puna, lagos, bosques montanos y bosques nublados.
