Ornithological information The site holds 20,000 or more waterbirds in winter, on a regular basis.

Site description A brackish bay with associated marshes (including salinas), mudflats, beaches and sand-dunes, woodlands and heathland.

Management considerations The abandonment of the management of saltmarshes, recreation and chemical treatment against mosquitoes (`Other' threats, above) are the main threats to the site.

Protection status National Partial International High550 ha of IBA covered by Hunting Reserve (Traicts du Groisic, 550 ha). 4,650 ha of IBA covered by Ramsar Site (Marais de Guérande, 5,200 ha). 550 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Traicts et Marais de Guérande, 550 ha).
