Ornithological information El área contiene al menos tres especies de Sporophila con problemas de conservación. Incluye la zona de San Gregorio sobre el Río Uruguay (Arrocera Conti, Establecimiento San Pedro, 30º33’s, 57º52’o, 36-80msnm) donde hay un registro de S. hypochroma (Claramunt et al. 2006) y registros de Sporophila palustris (Vaz-Ferreira & Gerzenstein 1961, A. R. M. Gepp in Collar et al. 1992), hacia en norte hasta la Estancia Santa Isabel (Granja Perroni, 30º26’01”s, 57º46’20”o) donde Sporophila ruficollis es común (González et al. en prensa).
Site description Área ubicada en el Departamento de Artigas, siendo el centro más poblado la ciudad de Bella Unión. Esta delimitada al norte por el Río Cuaréim, al este por el Arroyo Yacutujá, al sur por el Arroyo Guaviyú y al oeste por el Río Uruguay. El hábitat predominante es el pastizal, pero también se encuentran bañados, monte parque y monte ribereño.
