Ornithological information El único sitio en El Salvador donde se reproduce "Red-throated Parakeet" (Aratinga rubritorquis), una especie endémica y también indicadora de bioma. Esta área es una de pocos en El Salvador donde se puede ver "King Vulture" (Sarcoramphus papa) frecuentemente.

Site description Cerca de 6,300 ha de bosques de pino, matorrales naturales y bosques secos están contiguas con una área más grande de pino y pine-roble en Honduras.
