Ornithological information Extensos bosques secos contienen una comunidad de aves típica del bioma "Pacific Arid P24Slope" (PAS).
Site description El IBA comprende 10,000 ha, que incluye un remanente importante de bosque seco en la cuenca del río Lempa, zona central de El Salvador. El bosque posee 900 ha de área protegida nacional, más aproximadamente 4000 ha en tierras privadas. Grandes paredones hospedan al menos 250 parejas de "Pacific Parakeet" (Aratinga strenua). Posee humedales de montaña, un ecosistema raro en el país, con especies como "Bare-throated Tiger-Heron" (Tigrisoma mexicanum) y uno de los pocos registros en el país de "Sungrebe" (Heliornis fulica).
