Ornithological information Las Colinas de Jucuarán es el único sitio de El Salvador con presencia documentada de ambas especies endémicas (en El Salvador) de la EBA017 ("White-bellied Chachalaca" Ortalis leucogastra y "Blue-tailed Hummingbird" Amazilia cyanura). Extensos bosques secos contienen una comunidad de aves típica del bioma "Pacific Arid Slope" (PAS), con registros de 80% de las especies indicadoras de este bioma en El Salvador.
Site description Un IBA de casi 5800 ha. Cerca de 4900 ha de bosque seco fueron casi destruidos durante el desarrollo no controlado de las décadas 1960 y 1970. El conflicto armado (guerra civil) de la década de los 1980 permitió un proceso de regeneración.
