Site description El área comprende el embalse del curso medio del río Tipitapa, conocido popularmente como Charco de Tisma, más los humedales aledaños comprendidos entre éste y la costa noroeste del Lago de Nicaragua, también abarca las lagunetas y pantanos de El Genízaro
