Site description A recém-criada Reserva Biológica da Mata Escura está situada em uma zona de contato entre os biomas Mata Atlântica, Cerrado e Caatinga, abrangendo uma extensa área de hábitats naturais ainda bem preservados na margem esquerda do médio rio Jequitinhonha, ao norte da cidade de Jequitinhonha.
