Ornithological information En esta IBA anida el Pelícano Pardo (Pelecanus occidentalis) una especie de ave acuática. Se encuentran varias especies endémicas como: el Múcaro Común (Megascops nudipes), el Carpintero (Melanerpes portoricensis), el Juí (Myiarchus antillarum) y la Reinita Mariposera (Dendroica adelaidae) . Otras especies que también cumplen con las categorías son: la Paloma Perdiz de Martinica (Geotrygon mystacea), el Zumbador Pechiazul (Eulampis holosericeus), el Zumbadorcito Crestado (Orthorhyncus cristatus), el Zorzal Pardo (Margarops fuscatus) y el Jilguero (Euphonia musica).
Site description La IBA de Vieques se encuentra al este de Puerto Rico e incluye el municipio de Vieques e islas adyacentes. Vieques (incluyendo Cayo Conejo y Punta Este) También es una IBA Marina que incluye cayos alrededor de la isla, y áreas de mar abierto.

Protection status En esta IBA se incluye el Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre de Vieques administrado por el Refugio de Pesca y Vida Silvestre (USFWS), incluye terrenos al este y oeste de la isla y que está descrito como el más diverso del Caribe, la Reserva Natural Bahía Bioluminiscente de Vieques, propiedad de Fomento Industrial y el Refugio de Vida Silvestre Cerro el Buey administrado por el FCPR.
