Ornithological information This is an important site for breeding raptors and wintering Grus grus.

Site description A reservoir on the River Guadiana surrounded by Quercus woodland, sclerophyllous scrub and Pinus plantations. In the mountainous part of the site there are dehesas and areas of pasture. The main human activities are livestock-farming, hunting and forestry.
