Site description Located around 55 km south of Garut, it is a lowland area with sand dunes, mangroves and primary forest on limestone (MacKinnon et.al.1982). It has reef formation and covered by seaweed.

Other biodiversity The important faunas in the reserve is Bos javanicus, Panthera pardus, Hylobates moloch, Trachypithecus auratus, Caretta caretta, Chelonia mydas and Eretmochelys imbricata (MacKinnon et.al.1982, Silvius et.al.1987, Silvius 1989, Karno 1990, Hedges & Tyson 1996).
Management considerations Encroachment and forest cutting, wild hunting, collection of turtle eggs and ornamental fish (MacKinnon et.al.1982, Silvius et.al.1987, Silvius 1989).
Protection status Declared as Nature Reserve for the first time in 1959 based on SK. Menteri Pertanian No.88/Um/59 and No.116/Um/59. 2157 ha of this area is recognised based on SK Menteri Pertanian No.370/Kpts/Um/6/78 on 9 June 1978 (Silvius et.al.1987, Anon 1997, Anon 1998).
