Site description The forests at Nankun Shan are more than 400 years old, and are broadleaf evergreen forest. The habitats in the IBA include primary forest, bamboo plantation, pine forest, agricultural land, scrub, grassland, reservoir and streams. Comprehensive surveys have been initiated in recent years.

Other biodiversity Nationally protected animals include Neofelis nebulosa, and there were historical records of Panthera tigris amoyensis and Panthera pardus. Important plants include Fokienia hodginsii, Tsoongiodendron odorum, Bretschneidera sinensis, Aquilaria sinensis and Halesia macgregorii.

Conservation response Established as a provincial-level nature reserve (6,666 ha) in 1984
