Site description Niumulin Nature Reserve is located in the south-western part of Yongchun County, on the southern slope of the Daiyun mountains. The IBA has the best preserved subtropical broadleaf evergreen forest in southern Fujian. The main tree species are Castanopsis spp., Lithocarpus spp. and Cyclobalanopsis spp. of the family Fagaceae.

Other biodiversity Nationally protected plants include Camellia grijsii. Animals include Manis pentadactyla, Lutra lutra, Viverricula indica and Viverra zibetha.
Conservation response Yongchun County government banned logging at Niumulin in 1958, and it was established as a provincial-level nature reserve in 1984.
