Site description Shijiu Hu lake overlaps two provinces, with the western part in Anhui and the eastern part in Jiangsu. When the water in the lake is 6 m deep open water covers an area of 21,400 ha, and when it is 8 m deep open water covers 34,000 ha.

Conservation response The IBA is partially protected in the provincial-level Shijiu Hu Nature Reserve (10,667 ha), which was established in 1999.
