Site description Located in the northern part of Leibo County. The IBA is on the eastern slope of Huangmaogeng in the Liangshan mountains, north of the Jinsha Jiang river (i.e. the upper reaches of the Yangtze River).

Other biodiversity Important site also to Giant Panda, Lesser panda, Leopard, Musk Deer and Asiatic Black Bear.
Conservation response Established as a provincial-level nature reserve in March 2001, and upgraded to a national nature reserve in 2003.
