Site description Located in the south-western part of Horqin Zuoyi Houqi, Jirem League, 25 km from Ganjig. The IBA includes a 24 km long valley, 200-300 m wide and 40-50 m in depth, which was formed by erosion caused by water flow. In the valley dense forest grows along the river banks, and the area was designated as a forest preservation area in 1952 and established as a forestry farm since 1958. Outside the valley the habitats are sand dunes, grassland and scrub.

Other biodiversity Nationally protected plants include Quercus mongolica and Fraxinus mandshurica.
Conservation response Established as Daqinggou National Nature Reserve in 1998, after which facilities such as hotels and roads were constructed for tourists, which has caused serious disturbance to birds and their habitats.
