Site description Located in south-eastern Jilin Province, with North Korea to the south-east. The IBA is in the core area of Changbai Shan’s primary forest, with prominent vertical zonation of vegetation from temperate coniferous-broadleaf mixed forest to tundra on the summit.

Key Biodiversity 

Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected animals include Panthera tigris altaia, Martes zibellina, Cervus nippon, Lutra lutra and Naemorhedus goral.
