Site description The Naoli He river is a tributary of the Wusuli Jiang river (River Ussuri), and has a length of 596 km. The IBA is located on the lower and middle reaches of the river, bounded by the flood-control levees.

Other biodiversity Twenty-five species of mammals have been recorded in the area, including Cervus nippon, Cervus elaphus, Alces alces, Selenarctos thibetanus, Lutra lutra, Canis lupus and Lepus timidus. Nationally protected plants include Phellodendron chinense, Fraxinus mandshurica and Juglans mandshurica.

Conservation response The present reserve was merged from three provincial-level reserves (Changlindao, Yanwodao and the old Naolihe) and one city-level nature reserve (Qiliqinhe).
