Ornithological information Se conocen 111 especies de aves en Milpo, incluyéndose entre ellas especies globalmente amenazadas y endémicas, como Andigena hypoglauca, Asthenes urubambensis, Scytalopus macropus, Anairetes agraphia y Nephelornis oneilli. No existe información sobre sus poblaciones.
Site description Milpo está ubicado en la vertiente oriental de los Andes, cerca del límite entre los departamentos de Pasco y Huánuco. Por esta zona pasa un camino de herradura que lleva de Pozuzo en Pasco a Chaglla, en Huánuco. En el área de Milpo el hábitat predominante es el bosque húmedo subtropical, algo degradado, con un dosel arbóreo entre 5 y 15 m de altura. Por encima del bosque se encuentran pajonales. En la zona hay áreas dedicadas a la agricultura y al pastoreo. Una evaluación de la avifauna de esta localidad fue realizada durante julio y agosto de 1985 por una expedición de Louisiana State University (Rosenberg et al. 1985).
