Ornithological information Se han reportado 31 aves, que incluyen varias amenazadas y endémicas. No se dispone de información sobre sus poblaciones.

Site description Wiñapajatun está ubicado en la cordillera Negra, departamento de Ancash, a tres horas de camino bajo el poblado de San Juan. Los hábitat más importantes de la zona son los bosque nublados secos y zonas arbustivas. El área es usada para pastoreo y como fuente de leña para uso doméstico. Este sitio fue muestreado por I. J. Franke en 1985 (Franke 1994, Franke y Salinas 2001).

Other biodiversity La flora de la zona ha sido parcialmente estudiada por Valencia (1990). Pobladores locales informan de la presencia, en el pasado, de Tremarctos ornatus (VU).

Management considerations Las presiones más fuertes sobre este lugar se deben al pastoreo y extracción de leña.

Protection status No es un área protegida.
