Site description Marcapomacocha es una ciudad ubicada a 4.415 m de elevación, a orillas de la laguna del mismo nombre, en la desembocadura del río Mantaro, departamento de Junín. En este sitio se encuentra vegetación de puna, con algunas áreas de terrenos pantanosos o turberas. Es considerada una de las mejores zonas de turberas del Perú. En los alrededores hay terrenos cultivados y ganado; además, es un sitio importante para el ecoturismo. No se dispone de información sobre proyectos realizados en la zona.
