Ornithological information An important staging area for waterbirds. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Anser erythropus (max. 1 bird, passage), Haliaeetus albicilla (max. 2 birds, passage), Crex crex (max. 2 pairs, breeding).
Site description A complex of shallow and nutrient-rich coastal wetlands surrounding the Lapväärti river delta, including Härkmerifjärden, a shallow, nutrient-rich lake, covered by large beds of reed Phragmites and bulrush Scirpus. Human activities include fishing and boating.
