Ornithological information An important area for island-breeding birds, including the only nationally important breeding cliff for Uria aalge (23-28 pairs).
Site description A fairly large offshore archipelago in the middle of the Gulf of Finland. The mainly small and rocky islands and islets are separated by large expanses of open sea. The larger islands support mixed forest or Juniperus stands, sometimes interspersed with small patches of meadow.

Management considerations Human impact on the area is minor. An ornithological station has been maintained on Aspskär island for several decades. Part of the area is a candidate SAC.
Protection status National Low International Partial731 ha of IBA covered by Protected Area on Private Land (Aspskär, 731 ha). 731 ha of IBA covered by Ramsar Site (Aspskär, 731 ha). 14,277 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Pernajanlahtien ja Pernajan saariston)
