Site description The site covers the channels and flood-plain of these two small rivers, and contains wet meadows, water-fringe vegetation and pools. The site is adjacent to Zwartemeer (040) and is situated to the north of the city of Zwolle. Human activities include reed-harvesting.

Management considerations The main problems affecting the site are the excessive harvesting and burning of reedbeds (`Other' threat), disturbance caused by wildfowl hunting, and the construction of a storm-surge barrier (see Lake Zwartemeer [site 040]).
