Site description A 20-km-long area of heathland and forest with scrub, fen, hedges and some cultivated land. Forest stands consist of conifer plantations and deciduous/mixed woodlands of various ages and under varying management regimes. The site is situated on the east bank of the River Maas (also known as `Maasduinen'), between the villages of Heijen and Arcen.
