Site description The IBA comprises a polder landscape with wet meadows and ditches. It is located to the north of the city of Amsterdam and adjoins Ilperveld, Varkensland and Twiske (071). This site, together with sites 068, 070 and 071, formed part of a single, larger site (former site NL038) in the previous pan-European IBA inventory (Grimmett and Jones 1989).

Management considerations A compensation scheme is in place for those farmers affected by restrictions on agricultural practices.
Protection status National Partial International None279 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (Oostzanerveld, 279 ha).
