Ornithological information This is an important roost for geese Anser from surrounding feeding areas. Waterbird numbers quoted are rough estimates.
Site description A large freshwater lake with sparse water-fringe vegetation and surrounding wet meadows, located to the south-west of the city of Sneek, and close to Lake Oudegaasterbrekken (061). This site, together with site 061, formed part of a single, larger site (former site NL017) in the previous pan-European IBA inventory (Grimmett and Jones 1989).

Management considerations The hunting of wildfowl, particularly geese, disturbs birds. A compensation scheme is in place for those farmers affected by restrictions on agricultural practices.
Protection status National Partial International None124 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (De Samenvoeging, 124 ha). 30 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (It Skar en Feandyk, 83 ha). 126 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (Vogelhoek, Buitenlanden en Eilanden Fluessen, 126 ha).
