Ornithological information The site is important for wintering waterbirds.
Site description Lake Doirani is fringed with reedbeds (Phragmites) and riverine forest. The site lies adjacent to site 010 in the FYR Macedonia.

Management considerations The main threats to the site are from the intensification of agriculture and the resulting over-exploitation of water, pollution and hunting. The water-level has dropped in recent years as a result of ground- and surface-water abstraction for irrigation (`Other' threats). Part of the area is a candidate SAC.
Protection status National Low International None9 ha of IBA covered by Natural Monument (Mouries Oak and Ash Forest, 9 ha).
