Ornithological information A site of great importance for migratory and overwintering waterbirds and foraging raptors. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Phalacrocorax pygmeus (wintering), Aquila clanga (wintering), Gallinago media (passage).
Site description A complex of seven shallow artificial lakes constructed at the bottom of the former Lake Karla.

Management considerations Threats are from agricultural intensification around the IBA, water-level fluctuations, drainage, groundwater abstraction and surface water abstraction (`Other' threats). There is a plan to build a large reservoir. Part of the area is a candidate SAC.
