Ornithological information The site is important for breeding species of open grassland. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Aythya nyroca (5-10 breeding pairs).

Site description The IBA covers an uninhabited area of loess terrace and alluvial plain in northern Banat, between Mokrin, Jazovo, Sajan and Crna Bara. Extensive steppic habitats are bordered by meadows and pasture, and contain a mosaic of relict Pannonian plant communities. Limited human activities include grazing and mowing of meadows.

Management considerations The main threats are drainage of wet depressions and ploughing of steppe and saltmarsh habitats. Predator control and winter feeding of Otis tarda are undertaken. A management plan exists for the site.

Protection status National Partial International None980 ha of IBA covered by Special Nature Reserve (Otis tarda pasture, 980 ha).
