Here are the most commonly requested data extracts from BirdLife's World Bird Database that are available for download.

• List of globally threatened birds (2002)
  This provides a delimited file of those species listed as either Extinct, Extinct in the Wild, Critically Endangered, Endangered, Vulnerable, Near Threatened, Conservation Dependent or Data Deficient using the IUCN Red List categories. This information reflects periodically updated information published in BirdLife International (2000) Threatened birds of the world. Barcelona and Cambridge, UK: Lynx Edicions and BirdLife International.
  Fields: scientific name, English name, IUCN Red List category.

• List of Important Bird Areas in Africa and associated islands
  This provides a list of the Important Bird Areas in Africa and reflects periodically updated information published in Fishpool, L. D. C. and Evans, M. I., eds (2001) Important Bird Areas in Africa and associated islands: Priority sites for conservation. Newbury and Cambridge, UK: pisces Publications and BirdLife International (BirdLife Conservation Series No. 11).
