Summary/History
Albania has a coastline extending in the north west from the Buna River Delta to Cape Stilli in the South, and includes both the Adriatic and Ionian seas. There has been limited study of Albanian seabirds but key threats are though to include:
o Pollution, especially oil and chemicals from shipping
o Habitat loss from coastal and island development
o Overfishing of the prey base and bycatch, though these both are unquantified

National priorities
o Start research on the non-breeding distribution and foraging areas of seabirds via collaboration at a regional level
o Integrate seabird research into ongoing work on turtles and Monk Seal.
