Globally, one in eight bird species is threatened with extinction, including 192 who are Critically Endangered. The Pacific region hosts 44 (23%) of the most threatened bird species in the world. The BirdLife International Pacific Partnership is working together in an innovative programme to prevent any more species going extinct, through the BirdLife Preventing Extinctions Programme (PEP).
