Iraqi conservationist wins the Goldman Environmental Prize for restoring the ‘Garden of Eden’

The Goldman Environmental Foundation has announced the six recipients of the 2013 Goldman Environmental Prize, a group of fearless leaders working against all odds to protect the environment and their communities. Amongst this year’s winners is Azzam Alwash, CEO of Nature Iraq, BirdLife’s Partner in the country.

2010 Goldman Prize for Europe: Ma≈Çgorzata Górska – Video

OTOP's (BirdLife in Poland) Ma≈Çgorzata Górska led the fight to protect Polands Rospuda Valley, one of Europes last true wilderness areas, from a controversial highway project that would have destroyed the regions sensitive ecosystems. This video is narrated by actor and environmentalist Robert Redford. The Goldman Environmental Prize is the world's largest award for grassroots environmentalists.
