Today is World Wetlands Day and the 40th anniversary of the Convention on Wetlands, which was adopted in the Iranian city of Ramsar on 2 February 1971. Over the last four decades the Ramsar Convention has had a huge positive impact on how wetlands are valued, managed and conserved around the world.
