Want a fair and ecological agricultural policy for the EU? Add your signature!

(c) Amanda Rogers

With only a few weeks left to the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20), and with the ongoing reform of the European Common Agricultural Policy, several youth networks from across the EU have launched a joint initiative to mobilize citizens in support of a fair and ecological agricultural reform. Major European food and agricultural organisations have endorsed it. Find more information here.

Transforming agriculture and the food system through public policy is a massive task, and Rio+20 is the first milestone, that is why it will be the launch platform for this campaign. The objective then will be to find partners who will take this initiative to their country, and grow the movement.

BirdLife Europe has been working on the CAP for a long term, because we are convinced that you can change the policy to make it better for farmers, citizens and the environment (find more information about BirdLife’s opinion on the CAP reform here). Therefore BirdLife Europe supports this initiative of young people calling for a new Common Agriculture Policy that is sustainable, fair and respectful of biodiversity and invites you to SIGN THE PETITION NOW, and spread this call among your networks.
