Nightingale Island emergency appeal

Hundreds of Northern Rockhopper Penguins have been covered in oil after a cargo ship crashed into Nightingale Island, part of the Tristan da Cunha UK overseas territory.

Tristan Islanders are doing a sterling job helping the penguins. But they face a race against the clock to save the birds. And even before the disaster, the northern rockhopper was one of the most threatened penguin species.

The RSPB (BirdLife in the UK) have started the Nightingale Island disaster fighting fund. Your donation will be used to help the penguins and other wildlife affected by the oil. Your support will also be used to fund follow-up monitoring and to assess the full impact of this disaster.
