In this International Year of Biodiversity, MME (BirdLife in Hungary) has decided to celebrate the the three common species of swallow and martins: Barn Swallow Hirundo rustica, Northern House-martin Delichon urbicumand Sand Martin Riparia riparia. MME organises several initiatives to celebrate their Bird of the Year, including swallow-watching tours, ringing demonstrations and lessons on how to build them nests.
