The wild vulture populations in parts of peninsular India, especially northern Western Ghats seems to be rising, though slowly. The increase in number is most prominent among the Long-billed vultures (Gyps indicus). Whether this is the outcome of banning of diclofenac or due to some other reasons is not known. Seems there is heartening news at both ends- breeding centers & wild habitats.
