I find it quite frustrating that the discussion about biofuels is almost exclusively framed around growing fresh crops just for the making of fuel. I am a biodiesel consumer, who purchased biodiesel from recycled grease from restaurant friers. In addition, the algae prospect is also a viable option that can fuel even more. Would someone please take these options into account when discussing biofuels? We need not grow crops and cause environmental degradation in order to come by biofuels. When these other options are taken into account, I believe the numbers would, when compared with other alternative/non-petro/non-coal options, have far less of an impact on biodiversity and environmental degradation.
