Mission of the organisation

SAVE Brasil strives to conserve birds, their habitats and global biodiversity, working with people towards sustainability in the use of natural resources.

Key Activities

Science & Biodiversity: SAVE Brasil’s work is focused on the research and conservation of threatened birds and on the identification and monitoring of Important Bird Areas (IBAs). Among the results achieved in this area are the creation of protected areas, the development and implementation of threatened birds conservation plans and the definition with the government of priority areas for biodiversity conservation.

Education & Dissemination: SAVE Brasil aims to raise awareness about the importance of birds and biodiversity in general through communication campaigns, events, seminars and educational activities.  Media bodies are also involved in order to put birds and the need of their conservation in the public eye.

Sustainable Development: SAVE Brasil believes in a harmonious relation between birds and people and, works with environmentally sustainable economic alternatives and good governance instruments to improve people’s quality of life and empower local communities. The work includes advisory and capacity building on ecology-based agriculture, handicrafts and cooperatives.
