Across the River: a transboundary peace park for Sierra Leone and Liberia Project

The EC funded Across the River – a Transboundary Peace Park for Sierra Leone and Liberia Project aims to unite the proposed Gola National Park in Liberia (88,000 ha) and the Gola Rainforest National Park in Sierra Leone (75,000 ha), with around 50,000 ha of additional forest to provide corridors, resulting in a protected area of over 2,000 km². Working together with government, CSOs, international NGOs and community partners in both countries, the project is directly contributing to the protection and conservation of one of the largest remaining frontiers of the Upper Guinea Rainforest; a biodiversity hotspot of global importance.
