European SAPs - saving Europe's most threatened birds

Find out more about what conservation actions are needed to save some of Europe's most threatened birds. Click on SAP » to view the Species Action Plan for that particular species (or sub-species). For additional information about some of the species involved visit our Data Zone section.

The Bern Convention is playing a fundamental work in promoting the implementation of the SAPs. The Standing Committee of the Bern Convention has created the Group of Experts on Conservation of Birds. The group’s aims are: (i) to review current problems of bird conservations, (ii) to advise the Standing Committee and the Bureau on matters related to bird conservation, (iii) to monitor the implementation of the SAPs.

The latest meeting was held in Wageningen (NL) on 11-12 June 2002. At the meeting several Governments submitted their reports on the implementation of the SAPs and of specific recommendations made by the Standing Committee. Click on Govt. Report » to read how the Governments view the progress that is being made in conserving these birds.
